When MasterQuery approached Sherpa Studios about a visual identity, they wanted the shape of a gold cylinder to be part for the logo. The cylinder shape is the universal symbol for a database and the company’s core strength lie in it’s ability to provide stock-market data for it’s users.
Although the icon of a database said exactly what the company was about, it fell a little short of tying itself into the name of the company – Master Query. The solution was to somehow take in the initials of the company (M and Q) and incorporate it into the shape of the database cylinder.
The new logo still resembles the universal symbol for a database, but it is dominated by the outline of the letter Q. The notion of the database storing data is reinforced by incasing the letter M into the database cylinder shape.
